Pros

The people in the main office are good and supportive, if sometimes a bit disorganized. With the right attitude, the job can be fun for a few years. Once you've been placed at a school, JoyTalk pretty much leaves you alone except for a 2-3 training days per year.

Cons

Compensation isn't great. Especially when compared to JET. There is no room for advancement beyond Assistant Language Teacher. It's the same for all ALT placement companies, though.

Pros

JoyTalk not only wants their students to excel, but their employees as well. They supply multiple training sessions throughout the year, as well as monthly meetings where coursework is discussed and teaching skills can be improved. They offer a lot of support, be it at work or in your day-to-day life. I enjoyed my employment with this company and believe they are a great company to be a part of if you wish to teach English in Japan.

Cons

There are no good ways to confront native teachers about their troubling behavior. Besides that, there are no cons to this company.
