Pros

I am struggling to think of any pros, except you can have a little flexibility on your day time work hours.

Cons

Where to start? This is a failing company masked by high volume. I am not at liberty to discuss the operational finances, but it is BAD. Failing even. They like to say it’s a high volume, difficult industry bc of how busy it is and distribution isn’t for everyone. That’s not the reason. There are hundreds of distribution companies that operate smoothly with policies and procedures regulated and implemented correctly. They cannot keep up with paying vendors, they cannot keep staff, there is no management in multiple departments. The software for inventory and the software for finance is from 1999. They cannot pay vendors on time, and they cannot collect money from customers on time. They refuse to place credit holds, while being continually placed on credit holds from vendors every single day. Jim Sorkin is a huge creep and watches employees go to lunch or get up from their desk. The CFO is so disconnected from what current companies are operating like and what current leadership and management styles are being used at other places. Half of the accounting department does not give a single care about their jobs or careers and consistently show up in sweatpants and ugg slippers, FaceTiming their friends at their desk, and have no desire to perform. Executive management is really disturbing…racial comments have consistently been made, there is a current active lawsuit for discrimination they are trying to hide, they also speak EXTREMELY negatively about entry or lower level employees. Calling them stupid, planning on firing multiple people but keeping them on retainer until they feel like it, then just firing randomly, complaining about the entire staff every single day by saying really mean things about individuals (even HR managers, AR team, wfh accountants, and buyers they have nothing nice to say about.) If you work there, many mean things have been said about you. The turnover is so shockingly high, but I’m sure you can now understand why. 2 recruiters from staffing agencies said they would NEVER staff at Silvert. One even interviewed themselves, and said it was a horrible experience. No team building, no productivity meetings, no solutions. Accounting is not being done correctly by any means, but like I said earlier, half of them don’t even care about their jobs in the first place. It is very uncomfortable to go into that office every single day. Buyers are doing god knows what every day. The produce department is consistently sending/picking horrible items. This is a deeply disturbing place to work.
