Open culture but talent density varies greatly - Software Development Engineer (SDE) 3 Jumio Employee Review

Pros

The org culture is open and transparent about the numbers. Access to the top management is never a challenge. Feedbacks and opinions felt heard.

Cons

The talent density highly depends upon the team. As with talent density the work life balance dramatically varies. For teams in India, it is viewed normal to attend meetings/calls post 8pm. No meeting Wednesday's are mere a wishful thinking but never turned a reality. Layoffs has have happened consecutively for couple years in a row -- as with any organisation the view upon layoffs are highly subjective. This could become a place of career stagnation for some and growth opportunity for others. The career progression is left with the hands of employee -- it is both a positive and negative. The iteration cycles are slower in relation to the AI era.

Pros

Jumio offers a ton of opportunity for growth if you’re someone who likes taking on new challenges. You can own meaningful projects, collaborate closely with teams across the company, and get real visibility with executive leadership. Because it’s a smaller organization, your impact is felt quickly and you’re able to build skills and influence processes in a way that’s hard to find at larger companies.

Cons

The pace can be intense because the company is lean and there’s always a lot happening at once. With fewer resources, you often juggle multiple priorities and need to be proactive about staying organized and focused. If you prefer very structured environments or narrow job scopes, the level of ambiguity and workload at times may feel overwhelming.

Thanks for painting an accurate picture - you're right in saying that Jumio might not be the best place for you if you prefer to be in larger corporate environments with a narrow job focus.
