KIND Response
9yWe are very disappointed to hear that this has been your experience at KIND, and even more disheartened it’s clear that you don’t feel like you have a forum to be heard internally. We expect team members to come to us, their managers, or the leadership team, when issues arise. We also expect our leadership team, managers and team members to address and act in return. We sincerely value direct and honest feedback, and as we grow, we want to keep this practice alive.
While we’d prefer to discuss this directly, our sense is that we might not have that opportunity so we’ll address some of your comments here:
• We hire new team members based on evolving business needs, and in recent years we’ve made an effort to hire experienced leaders to help us pursue our vision for KIND.
• If there is too much work on your plate, that is something you must raise with your manager and seek resolution on. If that fails you, we ask that you escalate further (to your department leader, HR or even Daniel).
• We evolved our PTO policy to combine all our paid time off into one bank of time specifically to provide our team with greater flexibility and more control in how to use their PTO. To make it easier for the team to access health care, we also began bringing doctors, nutritionist, and mindfulness experts into the office each quarter.
• Equity is such a unique piece of our compensation, especially in that all full-time team members are part-owners, regardless of where you are in your career.
• We’re very proud of our ownership culture, which is the reason that every full-time team member receives equity upon joining our company.
• As Daniel has stated, we call our team a ‘family’, so major life transitions, like changing jobs, aren’t mean to be concealed until the last minute. We ask for 60 days’ notice to help our team members in their transition, and so they can in return help in hiring their replacement and leave their team in a good place.
We view our culture as a collective responsibility that we should all feel ownership of and something we can all have a hand in shaping. The measure of an organization is not in the problems it may have – rather in the way it comes together to solve them. You are right to expect more from us – and in exchange, we ask that our team also raise issues as they see them and partner with fellow team members in creating solutions. – KIND HR
