Pros

good people to work with

Cons

I worked for this company for almost a decade holding different engineering and leadership positions. Through my time with the company the leadership (CEO, COO, etc.) has changed 3-4 times. Every time unfortunately to the worst now the company is at a point that I don’t think it will be around for very long. The company’s pay is on the lower end of the market for all employee levels. Also while the C suite keeps repeating that “employees are first and the most important asset” the company does very little to act on this. There is a lack of communication issues among the owners (C suite) directors (number 2 from the top) which results in a no unified view of anything. There is a culture of lack of accountability (a lot of talk no action) which results in the continuous employee disappointment. Diversity is none existent in the company (175 employees 10 women 1 black 164 white men) so if you are like me and eager to meet other cultures, you will have to do this somewhere else. The company is owned and controlled by 10 white, right wing Kentucky good ol boys. The combination of the above make the turn over very quick which meant for me constant training to new staff. I am going to sum it up and say most of my days where filled with frustration, disappointment, lies, and over worked. The reason that I stayed that long is I had an awesome team that we tried to stay away from dealing with management and just do our thing. I also love what I do so I kept on doing it

We appreciate the feedback from our employees. Input such as this helps us improve our ability to mentor our professionals and build a positive culture. For 62 years, KLH has promoted individual professional development, inclusion, and community service, which is why we succeed. Our Catalytic Coaching program was established to provide daily mentorship as opposed to one year-end employee review. Each employee has a Coach serving as a mentor, a personalized professional development plan, and individual and corporate accountability to the program. We are committed to giving our Team the tools to technically succeed in the engineering industry. This includes the very best technologies, training, performance metrics, and best practices in engineering. At all times, our employees know how they are performing and are given guidance for improvement, if required. We are transparent, inclusive, and active with our colleagues. Our entire staff of 120 members has been engaged in some aspect of the firm’s strategic plan. We build relationships through company events such as our annual March Madness celebration, Reds game outing, and company picnic, in addition to monthly happy hours, Office Olympics, Keeneland outings, and many more. We continue to attract and recruit top talent, and are seeing increased opportunities for diversity including a workforce of nearly 20% female professionals. And our tuition assistance program has helped working-employees achieve their college or technical degrees. We are thanking the communities that help made us successful through service. Each employee is granted 10 hours of paid volunteer time during regular business hours. We have established the “Keep-Lending-A-Hand” program that allows employees to submit internal grant applications for financial contributions to a charitable organization they serve. Programs like these are a result of listening to our employees. We thank each existing and past employee who have contributed to the firm’s success, and will continue to encourage your future professional endeavors wherever they may be. For those yet to experience this type of culture, we welcome you to explore and join our Team!
