Pros

Small company feel, good location, company sponsored events, family and work life balance, xbox consoles for weekend and afterwork hours for use.

Cons

Management is not qualified, and makes poor choices far too often. During my time here, i have seen far too many employees let go. Some that were only here a month or so. There are lots of positive reviews on here, but only because the company sends out an email inviting employee's to rate them. Since the invites are sent at different times, it's easy for them to know who submitted a poor review, so most just say nice things. This place has no time frame for learning, or training of new employees, or letting them catch up to speed once hired. During the interview, they pitch an easy going place, that is laid back. However that is not the case here, and you will find that out very quickly. Management lets people go, like it's nothing, and then go right to lunch, heck i saw it happen just today to a guy who did all he was expected to do. I know my time is coming soon too as well as everyone else non-management that works here. So im being honest on my review to help other potential employees make a good choice as to where they decide to work. The health insurance is poor, coverage is bad, and cost is high, medication coverage is horrible, HR is a 3rd party company, so getting things resolved is a nightmare. Pay scale is under par for the market, but they will tell you that they do 3 evals a year and year end raises are based on those. However even oyr top performers are not given marks enough for a raise, so dony count on those when negotiating salery. Also, there is alot of gossipy people in this company. Managers are barely seen around here doing anything productive, except when organising where to go to lunch. First opportunity i get I'm leaving here as well.

We're sorry your experience with us has fallen short of your expectations. We invite you to make your concerns known to your manager. We're always open to correction. We'd be remiss however if we didn't address what amounts to inaccurate statements and outright lies here. Do we frequently let people go? Nope! We have, on occasion, let people go due to performance issues, but it happens rarely. The notion that people are somehow shocked and surprised (or fired for dubious reasons) when they're let go is silly. We always give our employees the benefit of the doubt and notify them of performance issues (repeatedly) before letting anyone go. In most cases, they're invited to reapply once they gain more experience. Do we coerce employees to write Glassdoor reviews? Nope! We don't waste our time making calculated efforts to monitor who is leaving reviews. We simply invite our employees to leave an honest review. If we get a negative review, then so be it. We will, however, respond to reviews that are blatantly false. Such is the case here. Do we have a timeframe for learning for new employees? Mostly true. We expect all our employees to hit the ground running with short ramp up timeframes. Because we only hire mid and senior-level technology professionals, we have the reasonable expectation that new employees comes ready to do the job we hired them for. Management is expected to provide mentorship and support to employees, not teach the basics for how to do the job. Are the health benefits & pay poor? Hardly! We're not Google, but we pay competitive wages and provide a competitive benefits package. We do use a 3rd party company for HR compliance and benefits. They have proven to be helpful, responsive and provide our employees an unbiased 3rd party opinion. Do we offer regular raises and evaluations? As with most companies, we conduct annual reviews. We have never promised 3 evaluations a year, but our employees are eligible for and receive yearly raises. Is management qualified? Well...none of us are career managers, we are just people who love to build technology. I am sure we could be better managers, but we are always striving to learn and support our teams better. Also, we take lunch really seriously here, so making sure we have a plan for eating lunch seems like a valuable skill.

Pros

I have been at SolutionStream over a year now. This is a well run consulting firm with over 100 senior level software engineers. A few of the culture events that they provide: Monthly Birthday BBQ Annual Lagoon Day for all immediate family (> 450 ppl) Crazy gift give away during the holidays, this is the time the company really goes all out to show it's thanks to their employees based on the amount of time you have been there. I think they gave over 20 big screen TV's alone! Holiday party for employee and significant other, typically in January after the craziness is over. Periodic Halo/game nights, where all the Big screen TV's in different rooms are linked and the battle begins. The facility is kept up and nice, they are currently out of space and looking for a building to add in downtown salt lake. You get paid for all the hours you work. They are honest

Cons

This is a pure consulting company, their is a chance that you will be put on an account that is not the most enjoyable and they might be quite critical and demanding. The good part is that it won't last forever, a new account is always around the corner.
