Pros

Great film catalogue. Interesting work. Opportunity for quick advancement.

Cons

I left before the new CEO began and I've heard things are much better now, but working under the founder was a nightmare. Very high turnover, aggressive micromanagement, toxic/abusive environment, culture of fear and most employees were grossly undercompensated working in the most expensive city in the country. The last year I was there was incredibly difficult, at one point I was doing 5 different jobs (due to people quitting, being let go) without additional compensation. People were regularly moved to different departments without replacements so certain departments were routinely understaffed, underfunded and overworked. Such a stressful environment. I still have nightmares about it!

Pros

1) Very hands on/learning curve - the company is of a good size that you really get exposure to a lot of different parts of the business, own your work and learn fast 2) Stability - a lot of my friends are working at companies here in SF that have no clear revenue models or future and that yoyo pretty rapidly between "zero" and "hero". Kanopy has a solid business and stability for the future 3) Growth - company has been growing fast. I've been there just under 3 years and they've tripled the team and got some good partners on board 4) Lifestyle/culture - they have a big focus on the culture and work life balance here (e.g. weekly team activities, generous leave policy, etc) 5) People - there is a solid team of people here. Smart and hardworking people but also have a life (I sit beside an avid rockclimber and a french volleyball player!)

Cons

1) Onboarding - when I started a while back they didn't have the full onboarding process set up yet for getting new hires up and running. Probably understandable for a company of its size 3 years ago. To be honest, I think this has changed as they recently launched a new onboarding program for new hires and they are hiring a HR director right now too, so this is probably not a problem any more. They are also really good at career development and managing staff growth too (quarterly KPI meetings etc)
