Pros
The people I work with are great. Good benefits with “unlimited” PTO. KarmaCheck pays well but there are huge pay discrepancies between people who do the same job. Remote work.
Cons
KarmaCheck is a very chaotic and non-transparent company to work for. We just went through a round of layoffs, termed reduction in force, because they hired too many people and realized they were not making as much money as they thought they would. People who had been there for years and brought so much to the company were let go rather than newly hired people. There is no job security. You’re expected to work 10+ hours a day if you want to be considered valuable to the company. The leadership structure also makes no sense, There is a whole team of people with manager titles with the exception of one person. Who are those people managing? The largest team is the customer support and research team. This allows KarmaCheck to hire legitimate researchers and investigators but force them in a customer service role where they are inundated every single day in Slack with leadership screaming “CHATS NOW!”, “2 CHATS WAITING”. Leadership does not seem to value their employees not the chaos they endure day in and day out. There is no support. Come to work be a cog in the KarmaCheck wheel and hope you do not get laid off, overwhelmed and burned out, or fired for not fitting in with the culture. There are no growth opportunities. HR told us a few months ago that they were going to push for growth opportunities and hiring from within. We were in the middle of hiring when a freeze and then layoffs happened but even still not one internal person was being interviewed for those open roles.
