Pros
Having a strong interest in the great outdoors made this an opportunity I couldn't resist! I enjoyed working for the campground area of the SP at the camp store helping park visitors check in and out with online reservations to ensure they were greeted friendly and then directed to their campsite to set up. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many new people and hearing the stories of other beautiful places they have stayed in while visiting or staying at the park and campground with their friends and family! Working with the campground's annual camp hosts who helped any campers directing them to their campsite was a great time as they all were very personable, too. Giving visitors ideas on locally owned businesses based on what they're looking for was fun when hearing how they enjoyed the recommendations when they returned to the campsite. I liked to help address the visitor's needs while they visited or stayed at the park. Informing visitors of park events and activities hosted by the park and any local events they are interested in was wonderful too!
Cons
The online reservation website KY State Parks uses for campers in selecting a site does not always help a new visitor as the sites at the campground and park are much smaller than other parks. When visitors were happy with the help and services you had provided them they shared this positive feedback online with the KY state park and were never told that several visitors left positive online feedback about how happy they were with the friendly service they received from some faculty and staff. This must not be important to the big picture of what drives the park visitors when staff/faculty are getting positive feedback from several visitors and the regional director of the state park shares the negative feedback on some faculty
