Pros
The air conditioning works fine, and while the owner bills hourly employees for accidentally setting off the security alarm, he hasn’t yet charged them for utilities to keep his law firm running—a place built on greed and deception.
Cons
I resigned from the firm due to billing practices and relentless pressure to meet billable requirements that conflicted with my personal values. Additionally, there were several concerning issues:
1. There was pressure to write positive reviews, which seemed aimed at artificially boosting the firm’s online rating.
2. Employees were encouraged to handle trust monies in ways that felt unethical to meet billable targets.
3. The firm had non-qualified staff preparing income tax returns for clients, despite a lack of tax expertise.
4. Raises and bonuses were often withheld, creating financial uncertainty for staff.
5. There was even talk of charging employees personally for accidental triggers of the office security system.
6. Staff were required to participate in uncomfortable weekly sessions with someone not employed by the firm, seemingly to gather information about other employees.
7. The firm experienced a significant turnover of staff, leading to an overworked and undertrained workforce.
