Pros
A big company with large projects that you can be part of. Lots of excellent colleagues with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Excellent working environment as well.
Cons
The company is governed by extremely backward HR guidelines. Colleagues getting 1% pay rises for a promotion only succeeds in disengaging staff. Progression is almost non existent unless you are lucky enough to be moving amongst senior management circles. The removal of junior roles only serves to create a glass ceiling for many staff. Pay is based largely on negotiations, after which salary increases are max'd at 10%, regardless of what the banding may be for that role. Project delivery largely seems to be an afterthought and pushed through, regardless of what is right for the business or colleagues. Very little recognition for all members of staff, only the people close to the top, which again is disengaging. HR department fairly impotent (excluding hobbling pay) and some managers unwilling or unable to manage ineffective staff
