low pay, long hours, verbally abusive and hostile environment, inconsistent work schedule, after everyones payed on the regular days we are waiting up to a week and half for paychecks to get sent out. Paychecks usually wrong which takes longer to fix. Been sent to collections many times over waiting on this company to pay me. Port captains blame game is heavy here. Micromanaging is bad to the point it holds people back and work takes longer to do. Supervisors and the like will make sure you "know your place" as one of my supervisors clearly reminded me. If your deckcrew..forget it..Your trash of this company unless your a tankerman or up. Avoid or get out of the postion asap. stuck on a boat with a crew who looks at you as a piece of trash and treats you accordingly there's things I've been supposedly shown which I have not, and been written up for it. Been here a year and vs getting opportunities for advancement. I have to pass random pop tests by the crew if I don't get one right I won't get my raise and have to wait another time frame and hope that I'm either trained or shown whatever the hell I was supposed to have known or been shown otherwise I'm written up and held back *per my captain*. As well as in another position I was told if I took the position I'd get a raise and other benefits for that position. Was flat out told after a few months that I was never going to move up get a raise or anything promised to me. Supposedly looks out for you..I've been the target of more harrassing and go kill yourself comments then I ever heard before to where I have gone to seek a counselor. Pays a joke for the work load you get tossed into and morale is just as toxic. This is a job where its either in your blood or your a target and waste of space to some of these guys. Good luck I'm currently looking for other jobs as fast as I can.
