Really do your research before deciding to work here and understand how serious the negative reviews are. No one wants to hate their job, and they're writing a negative review as a warning, not as revenge. KDC has negative reviews removed from Indeed and marks them as “unhelpful” because they are upset. Negative reviews aren’t a personal attack. KDC needs to have some accountability and accept that some people have a bad experience, and work to change and improve instead of sweeping problems under the rug. The lack of team building and the non-existent company meetings (to talk about how business is going, company goals, open forum, basic things most companies do, etc.) reflects how little this place cares about the well-being of its employees, transparency, and communication. DEVELOPMENT: This company does not care about professional development. You will have to do things "how they've always been done," and do what you're told. The ceiling here is very low. There isn’t really a difference in the responsibilities of a strategist or coordinator, and there isn’t any way to move beyond that or to create a new position. They tell you that “anything is possible” but do not provide you with a roadmap or tangible ways to achieve anything, and this is probably because there isn't anything to achieve. COMPENSATION: The compensation is pennies compared to the industry standard, especially considering the volume of work the social team does. Pay never accounts for the cost of living or inflation in Las Vegas. That's why still lives with their parents. Also you will get five vacation days after a full year of work and accrue one hour of personal time a week. You will be allowed to take vacation after 6 months, but if you leave before a year of employment, your vacation time will be taken out of your already tiny salary. A typical job gives you three weeks of PTO after three months. You are told that you’ll be allowed to leave early if it’s your turn to do weekend monitoring, but it’s nearly impossible to do because you’ll be working so much regardless. SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM: The culture on the social media team is toxic and passive aggressive. Half of the team continues to quit. Leadership goes through cycles of hounding, grilling and micromanaging employees. If you're an independent person, this won't be a good fit for you. Leadership doesn't know how to manage different types of people and cultivates an environment of high stress and anxiety. Not everyone wants to be loudly talked at. There's no mutual respect, only the game of favorites. Some days it feels like you can cut the tension with a knife. Leadership lacks self-awareness and are tactless communicators. JOB EXPECTATIONS: You will be doing EVERYTHING. You are not a "coordinator," you are doing all the functions of a social media manager - for multiple clients. Which is great for experience building, but exhausting and miserable. You will be writing, graphic designing, taking photos, strategizing, scheduling, posting, analytics, paid media, and community management. You will also be working on weekends. To put this into perspective, distinguished social media and marketing agencies have individual teams that do each of these things - not one person doing all of these things for multiple clients. This job is designed for error, and you're set up to fail. Don't expect to be trained well, either. You'll have a week of non-descriptive, hands-off training and that's it. No one has time to train you anyways, everyone is too busy.
