Pros

- Employee discount - Flexible scheduling IF you have a good store manager - Cross training -- you don't always have to work in the same department - Opportunity to work with a lot of different people

Cons

- The work experience is entirely based on whether or not you have a good management team. - Training for new associates is not very good; a few hours of computer based training followed by a few hours of "buddy training" with another associate and then you are left to work by yourself and expected to achieve the same standards as any other associate. - Limited room for advancement within the company.. again, depends on the store management. A good store manager will promote qualified individuals from within the store. Bad management will ignore the talent that they already have and recruit outsiders. - Room for advancement at the area supervisor level is VERY limited. Open Assistant Manager positions are filled with whoever is the DM's favorite, or by outside applicants. - Turn over is very high

Pros

managers can be friendly at times

Cons

Little to no training been working here for almost a year now there’s still something I don’t know every day. What was most difficult for me was being at registers as I was trained in two days by shadowing someone. There are so many situations and problems that will come up every day and you will learn something new! They never taught me about Kohl’s cash, how to read receipts, reprint or edit receipts. They schedule so little so when you do learn something there’s no chance of rehearsal because you come in three weeks later working at a different department.
