Pros
Good discounts on merchandise & flexible hours are pros. Fair wages are paid in our market for experience and tenure past one year.
Cons
Where to begin? Hard work is usually unrewarded, and then only by getting a few more hours the next week or two. Promotions are very hard to come by unless you are young and/or attractive. This is not a job that will pay bills: many part-time sales, freight and POS associates only get one or two shifts per week (5 to 8 hours). Managers within same store have different ways of approaching situations -- very confusing. In many stores there is a lack of communication or direction to employees. Real turnoffs are the ever-constant credit applications push, and the fitting room / sales floor recovery disasters that occur on busy days. There is way too much stock on the floor in clothing lines, and not enough stock of what the store is selling (hot items).
