Pros

Opportunity to meet like minded people who are passionate about tech. If lucky, you can get some good experience for your cv.

Cons

I want to express my profound disappointment and concern regarding the recent actions and management practices of Kubrick Group. The company’s approach to hiring, training, and employee treatment has proven to be significantly flawed and deeply troubling. The company has experienced numerous layoffs due to over-hiring and a lack of foresight into client demand levels. This resulted in a large number of consultants being benched and made redundant, highlighting a serious deficiency in financial planning and market analysis. After misunderstanding the market and client demand levels, the company repeated its mistakes by bringing on three new cohorts under the assumption that market conditions had improved. This decision was soon followed by the cancellation of all three cohorts and the redundancy of over 50 employees within three months of their start dates. Such a recurrence of poor decision-making is unacceptable. Many individuals left secure jobs, had their start dates postponed for several months, contracts cancelled and promised high-quality training and on-site experience. The reality, however, was vastly different. The company’s inability to accurately forecast market trends and sales pipelines has led to a cycle of over-promising and under-delivering. Additionally, the training provided was subpar, characterised by fear tactics, overly complicated exams, egotistical trainers, and content that was not in line with industry standards. The company should assess the competency of their training and trainers and listen to feedback from consultants, many of whom felt unprepared to work on client site due to misaligned, convoluted, overly rushed training. Lastly, the treatment of employees has been equally appalling. Despite assurances that they had learned from past mistakes and were confident that placements would improve, some consultants had been waiting over six months for assignments with no increase in demand in sight. This just goes to show the lack of transparency from this company and highlights a recurring theme of incompetence. Furthermore, the company demonstrated a complete lack of empathy during times of redundancy while providing limited solutions and support. I urge potential employees to reconsider any involvement with this company. Based on my experience, seeking a tech role through other avenues would be far more beneficial. Save yourself from the stress and disappointment.

Kubrick Group Response

Thank you for your feedback. We can assure you that the recent redundancies and layoffs were not easy decisions to make, and all alternatives were explored to avoid having to make headcount reductions. We always take a prudent approach to hiring however due to the ongoing economic slowdown and the nature of our business model we have had to make some very tough decisions to reduce our bench. Unfortunately, we were unable to fulfil the full employee value proposition for some of our hires in providing client experience post 15 weeks training. In terms of our training, this is designed and delivered by a team of industry experts who bring an average of 16+ years’ technical experience. Throughout the 15 weeks, consultants are exposed to a range of tools and technologies that are relevant to the market and are taught through a blend of theory and practical work. The quality of our training is evidenced through the trust of our stellar client base and the career trajectories that Kubrick consultants go on after training. We also collect feedback from our consultants in training on a regular basis and this feedback is overwhelmingly positive. From a transparency perspective, we recognise that more needs to be done to ensure consultants are effectively communicated and have since introduced new initiatives that are designed to enhance this. We run regular company-wide webinars which are led by our CEO plus members of senior leadership, release monthly newsletters plus timely emails to all staff, and have also launched an Employee Insights Board whereby employees and HQ staff alike can contribute towards business decisions. We strongly recommend speaking to your CSM if you do have any concerns, or speaking to a member or HR. Many thanks Kubrick

Pros

The training program in London was great. I met a bunch of wonderful people that I still engage with now.

Cons

They laid off a third of the consultants waiting to be placed with a client in the US. This is their second time doing this after saying it wouldn't happen again.
