Pros
This seemed like such a great opportunity to help a small division of a company get over “the hump” with talent & tons of potential just needed a leader & they wouldnt know it if it landed on their lap and they could pay like entry level labor (quite literally)
Cons
This company brought me on to run a division and told everyone except me and the guy who was running it prior to me that i was “in charge” & with no training or onboarding process or actual time spent with the previous manager and I suppose in the months of Dec-Feb they expected concrete results to sky rocket, because that was realistic, By the time i figured out half the job they hired my replacement who I was supposed to “learn from” but the only thing anybody learned was that hes done this for 20 years because he felt the need to remind everyone every 10 minutes. The crazy part is i was running the division 10x more efficiently on my own a month into my “mentor/replacement” starting “ who doesn’t know what a spreadsheet is i might add, but the audacity of these people without saying a word, even a conversation of “hey you’re doing this wrong” or “you could improve this” , just gone, I saw myself retiring from here a week ago, and my mind is still blown
