If you’re not very talented or ambitious, you can hide there very comfortably for life. In fact, most of their long-term workforce fits this description.
Cons
Derogatory language is spewed by their “highest level” executives (aka family members and friends). Lack of transparency re: career path, compensation, and strategic planning. Inadequate minds in very important positions. “That’s how we do it here” is encouraged while unique and innovative approaches are met with serious resistance. Completely uneven compensation. Executive mgmt amongst the business units fight for resources and often instruct staff to withhold information from direct strategic counterparts because of inter-company politics. Zero minorities or women in positions of power. Rumor has it even the daughters of the Lacks fam aren’t allowed to work at the company. Blind to all of these issues because it’s easier to stay wealthy than to address the terribly outdated culture.
