Pros

The company is small and family owned. This can be a Pro AND a Con. They specialize in servicing their customers with typical Chinese factory items you can find on Alibaba. The difference is that Catherine and Tor are nice people and this helps. The environment is Ok and most of the staff are pleasant and hard-working. Occasional BBQs are nice.

Cons

What really can be grating is that since this is a small family business things are rather chaotic. There are 1 or 2 family members that seem to be out of control and run things amok. They have a habit of not treating their employees with respect and seem very out of control on minor issues , which allows major flaws in product and service to occur. They employ people that are good at only one thing and innovation is not something they excel at. If you watch some of their videos you will notice that Mr. Alsup is in most of them. That is because he would be the only one that wants to show you the CAD/CAM systems. If you ask any other customer service rep they would refer you to him. Not exactly a great way to build a business. If innovation was something akin to selling common run-of-the-mill products then they win the BLAH Award. Don't expect much out of this group. They service a specific customer base and cater to them only. Its more of a production "punch the clock" & sales business and will remain that way since they are a smaller player in the woodworking field.

Pros

Most of the lower level employees at Laguna are great people with amazing personalities who are great to work along side. While the products Laguna used to sell where fairly decent quality the companies desire to make money has outweighed their passion to build quality tools.

Cons

All of the managers with the exception of one are terrible to work with or for. The amount of serious issues that is left untouched should be concerning to anyone. Communication between managers and employees is zero. Communication about upcoming projects and changes to the systems never happens, you must work around problems upper management created and they will not allow you to point out major issues. There are 0 SOP’s for any job and only 1 or two people can answer questions you may have about it. Safety inside the warehouse is nonexistent, while there are some people trying to fix the safety issues, upper management does not care to due to the cost of creating a safe work environment. Benefits are at best below average, the company will meet the bare minimum requirements to tell you they have benefits that are “competitive”. Your manager will not understand how your job is to be done nor will they want to know.
