Pros

Good pay, if you don't mind always watching over your shoulder, afraid that you made a mistake in a 50 page document that ultimately is irrelevant and you may get yelled at by your middle manager who doesn't like managing people anyhow but would rather be holed up in a room reading a government handbook on how to underwrite real-world healthcare real estate deals.

Cons

I think there is a character limit here unfortunately... Honestly, there is no good management of staff. One person at the company was promoted to assist with managing Associates and he really cares. He just doesn't have the support to make a difference. Associates have no real training, and many leave after 3 years because of the lack of upward mobility, recognition, and negative culture. There was a corporate survey for all departments, and the owners in particular focused on the Associate pool. This was due to very high turnover rates of the Associate pool during a few month period (nearly 50% out of about 20 people). The survey results demonstrated that the Associate pool, as a standalone department, scored the company culture in the lowest 10% category of the survey company's peerset. After these lucid results, nothing changed. In fact, the current CEO, who was part of the reason for the poor culture, was promoted to his current position. Turnover continued. While the current CEO may appear to care, he has no other experience than the current company. This negatively affects every area of the company, and in particular, the Associate pool which drives deal volume and profitability. Their promotion style is frighteningly xenophobic.
