Pros

It's law enforcement support and part of our County Sheriff's Department. ROs work in corrections, warrant entry and confirmation, police services, civil (service of court documents) or concealed handgun licensing. There's opportunity to change assignments if you wish to broaden your knowledge base. Integrity is valued and the work contributes to something bigger than yourself, making a positive difference in the safety of our community.

Cons

The agency as a whole is fairly homogeneous; there isn't much cultural diversity--racial, political ideation, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, etc--which can be difficult for those who do not "reflect the agency" in these areas.

Pros

In my 29 years of nursing it was one of my top 3 places to work. You were given respect by all. It was fast paced which I loved. No two days were the same. I worked my way up into the position I wanted. I earned the respect from my coworkers. I am an excellent multi task person. I never dreaded to go to work.

Cons

They contracted the medical department out to a company who originally did not want me. I did inform them it was their loss. I did receive a call from them willing to give me a job. Couldn't tell me what my pay would be or shift I would work. That we did not get to stay and work.
