Pros
Very laid-back office environment. You can wear whater you want, and you can start work from 7am to 11am, as long as you work 9 hours including lunch(lunch is from 1 to 2pm). Sometimes you will have to work on the weekends, but maybe 1 a month and sometimes less. Everyone in the office is under 35 usually, and most travel adivors have studied in the US or Europe. People are very nice in general. The operations people are Peruvians from Peruvian universities but they also speak English. There is a cook who prepares lunch everyday for a very economical price. (9 soles I believe). The Director the travel advisors have contact with, Richard, is very friendly as long as you have a good work ethic. He values your opinions, and is very easy going. Overall this is a very good place to work in if you have good work ethic and put effor into learning. If you are not good at selling you will not get good requests and you won't make much money, so I recommend being good at individual sales. Also, if you are not curious about learning about small details about hotels, destinations, even about hotel rooms in hotels, you might have problems later with picky clients. Lastly, it is important to understand that the more you know, the more chances you have of selling. Since learning about destinations and hotels did not interest me, I got pretty tired of this job, but overall I think it is an amazing job if you have curiosity about traveling in Peru, if you have a good work ethic, and if you are a nice person. I love sales so this was really fun: some clients even became my friends :) Some travel advisors got promoted to managers but that rarely happens since usually those position are already covered by people who who won't move from Peru because they got married or something.
Cons
Sometimes there is too much work for the sales staff, but if you want to make money this is better than not having so much work, otherwise you won't have the chance to make sales. If you make too many mistakes on your job, deduction will be made to your commission, especially if te Director does not believe you it was not on purpose. You need to be careful with problematic clients, otherwise you might end up having to pay something from your sales commission. Please be aware of how they will pay your commission because it changes from time to time, and it does not favor all travel advisors. When I was there they decided to remove certain significant payment for those who sold more, which meant that I was making around 17% less money. I don't understand why no one was bothered by this...but anyway. If you make mistakes when you submit a sale to the operations team it's ok, but if it happens to often, you will create more work for them and they will talk bad about you to their boss. In general the operations team, which is full of girls, has too much drama sometimes, even with the nicest travel advisors. Their manager is great, but since they make a lot less money, it is my perosnal opinion that sometimes some operations agents can be not so nice. Their opinion is very important because your work gets rated according to what the operations thinks of you.
