Pros

I loved working with brides and helping them find their dream dress for one of the most important days in their life. I also loved helping with the small details and being able to help anyone feel beautiful and incredible no matter if they were a bride, a bridesmaids, or a girl going to a formal dance. I believe in the product and the service they are trying to provide, but not in the way the company treats individuals as a whole.

Cons

The owner is more worried about money than employee safety. She constantly asks employees to compromise values and integrity, whether directly or indirectly by manipulation. This is particularly frustrating when integrity is claimed to be one of the core values of the company. The owner claims she is within her "legal rights" to do something in order to bully employees and avoid taking responsibility. She uses this as an intimidation tactic to obtain what is best for her, and not for her employees or company as a whole.

Pros

I adore working at LatterDayBride! The atmosphere is loving, genuine, and accepting. It's not just a place for members of the Church of Jesus Christ, it's a place for anyone and everyone looking for beauty on their wedding day. Especially on busy Saturdays, there is a happy buzz in the air. We have an amazing team that builds each other up and holds each other to high standards. The owner is a joy to work for! I haven't met many people like her. She does expect a lot! She has a high standard for work ethic, dedication, and performance, which she rewards once you've proved yourself. I've always found such wisdom in that. She isn't interested in handouts for no reason, but she's such a generous employeer. She doesn't settle for less than her vision of the company, and it's a very beautiful vision. When you work hard and dedicate yourself, you can really excel in the company. Though it is a small operation, they are dedicated to creating opportunities for growth, learning, and awesome pay, considering the commission and bonuses you can earn. I love my job, and I can't picture my life without it. My concerns or worries have always been addressed in a positive manner, and correcting feedback has been provided with love. There's nothing quite like seeing a bride tear up as she realizes she's found her dream wedding dress!

Cons

When you work in bridal, you're dealing with one of the milestones in life, so it's likely that emotions run high. Brides, mothers, and fiances alike have their moments, but I've always seen these are farther and fewer between the moments of real joy. I've been with the company for many years, and I've seen ups and downs, as with any job. Has it been perfect? No! I never expect that. Sometimes a job or a position just isn't the right fit, and I can respect that. Part time positions come with flexibility, and the ability to choose shifting schedules. Manager positions do require longer hours and a more strict schedule, including work over the full time 40 hours, no time off during busy season, and stricter requests for time off during the off season. If you are dedicated to a lot of vacations, this job may not be for you. As a small operation, everyone counts and missing a person here or there can really do a number on the ability of the staff to get everything done. Saturdays are a mandatory work day, and some people value their weekend time very much. LatterDayBride is a retail company, not a corporate company, so if you expect corporate structures, this isn't the place to find them. Some may find this to be a con: you have to deliver! Results are a must, and you definitely are held to high standards. Though intense at times, and though sometimes you need to go back to improve your work, I've always seen this as taking pride in the company. Having proven myself for many years, I've seen the wonderful benefits of that hard work paying off in job satisfaction, flexibility, and associations with amazing women (and some men) that I will never forget!

Pros

Being a part of a bride’s big day is wonderful. The wedding industry is fun and exciting. Working with all women is empowering.

Cons

The owner leads by fear and manipulation. The only way to be respected in your job is to bow your head down and toss all of your morals out the window. The workplace is great if you are a receptionist or just a stylist, but if you are in any management positions, you will be constantly manipulated, degraded, and have all of your hard work questioned constantly. Any problems brought up to HR aren’t actually resolved in a timely manner, in fact HR wouldn’t even be an appropriate term for the human resource department. There is an open door policy, but any problems brought to the owner or HR are brought back to you as something only you could fix, not upper management. The company has “Core Values,” but the owner who put them in place doesn’t really follow them which is most certainly a double standard. The only saving grace was the general manager who led by love and genuine desire for you to grow , though you are an outcast if you believe that is a good management style. If you get a raise or a promotion, expect to do those duties without compensation - i.e. You will do those duties before your raise or promotion are in effect. The pay here is very poor. You can get more starting with NO experience at a local fast food joint.
