Avoid at all cost - Fellow Lead For America Employee Review

Pros

If you like the host site you will be serving, I recommend volunteering 10 hours a week to get your foot in the door and not this fellowship as it will lead you further to your goals. If a position opens up at the host site, you will most likely get stuck with your commitment in your fellowship.

Cons

They make up policies as a situation arises and expect you to sign documents that take away your rights as an employee. Lead for America also have deep pockets for their staff employee but will budget full extent for fellows. They will change contracts, policies, and regulation day by day and say “sorry the last one was a mistake”. They are quick to gas light fellows and they are not here for you, they are here for themselves to say there are doing something good on their resume by “helping young adults” get jobs.

Pros

Lead For America stands out as an exceptional nonprofit national service organization led by a visionary CEO and supported by an exceptional staff. Being a part of this organization has been a deeply fulfilling aspect of my career, allowing me the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. I value the numerous professional development opportunities provided and find satisfaction in working within this dynamic and expanding environment.

Cons

We are growing quickly, so it can be challenging to find top talent as positions open. Rapid growth presents opportunities for evolving structures and roles, and team members need to be adaptable and embrace change as processes evolve.
