Good for recent grads or junior devs but not a place to make a career - Developer Leadnomics Employee Review

Pros

If you're fresh out of college then this is a good place to work. To echo another review, "chill place, chill work." Despite being around for many years, this company has a thriving start-up culture to it. The atmosphere was fun, vibrant and youthful. If you're a self starter then you'll fit in here. Take initiative and you won't be sitting around twiddling your thumbs. Lots of perks like beer and food. Great work-life balance.

Cons

I would not recommend working here unless you're a recent grad, junior dev looking for experience, or a highly paid executive brought in to turn the company around. This company tries to be too many things at once - a lead buying and selling platform, an affiliate network, content-production company, etc. There's no focus and the company seems to always be chasing the newest shiny object. Leadership doesn't know how to lead. You feel like you "work for" management instead of "work with." The "Advice to Management" from the review on 3/8/15 is spot-on. Many talented people but a few bad apples spoil the bunch, and those bad apples seem to stick around for much longer than they deserve. At the same time, anyone who challenges leadership and tries to open their eyes to the obvious problems within the company will likely get fired. Lead and executive positions are brought in from outside rather than advancing people from within. Even people who helped build the company get passed over. Falsely advertised "profit sharing" in the hiring process. You're expecting something to make up for taking a lower salary but end up getting nothing (to be fair the company was not profitable during my tenure)

Leadnomics Response
11y
Like a few other Glass Door reviews about Leadnomics, this review has some very legitimate observations. As part of our recent organizational re-design, we have evaluated and in some cases, made compensation adjustments to be on the higher end of market competitiveness, particularly within our technology group. Additionally we have: * In addition to being market competitive with strong benefits and 401K matching, we have added a bonus/profit-sharing program that specifically ties to MBO goals for every full time employee at Leadnomics. * Other than myself, in the past 5 months, we have not brought in a single leadership position from the outside including 3 managers and two directors, all promoted from within. * With regards to junior versus senior engineering roles, we have elevated two engineers to senior roles. We have completed a salary audit and have found that we are at, or above the salary rates for the Philadelphia market. * Being too many things at once. Guilty. Leadnomics is still an early stage company and works in a very dynamic marketplace that is constantly changing. The companies that are most successful in the lead generation and advertising network space are able to pivot and evolve, sometimes on very short notice, to take advantage of market opportunities.

Pros

I was paid while working mostly from home, so this was something notably positive from my experience. Would recommend to a friend due to this! From my perspective, and those I worked closely with, the work culture requires a high degree of adaptability and emotional resilience to navigate effectively. I was not capable of meeting the expectations of Leadnomics leadership, so I made the decision to depart due to the feedback I received regarding my own inadequacies. I learned a lot from this experience!

Cons

It’s worth noting that I signed a non-disparagement agreement upon joining this company, which limits my ability to share specific feedback. Prospective employees should carefully assess whether the company’s culture and leadership style align with their own working preferences. I took some time to reflect before writing this review, as the leadership style left a strong impression and required careful thought to evaluate my experience. The company does not have a dedicated HR department, which can make navigating workplace concerns or policies more challenging. Employees seeking formalized support structures might find this environment less accommodating, but since it is a startup, this is not out of the ordinary.
