Pros

-For illustrators it is excruciatingly difficult to find work that pays at all. Letterfest does pay, which is depressingly more than most clients or companies can say. -Company Slack boards are responsive enough if you need advice or assistance, and there is a generally very friendly and positive atmosphere there. -The work itself is mostly tracing, there is some getting used to copying the style exactly, but once you get used to it it's easy to understand what is desired. Some of the works are somewhat satisfying to complete. -you can tell that many customers are uploading very special photos showing special moments to them (weddings, memorials, housewarmings, etc) to be drawn, and it is good to know you are making something nice for them and making them happy.

Cons

-Pay is $4.30-4.90 USD per work you complete, which on average takes 45 minutes to 2 hours to complete. This pay rate is obviously insanely low. Just take a look at the drawings on their public website, and think to yourself if you'd be able to complete it in TWENTY minutes. This is what is required to achieve the pay advertised on their website. The listed hourly rate is a blatant lie. -It gets worse-if there are revisions to do, you must complete them, increasing the time by anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours extra work with no extra pay. -some assignments are extremely complex, and require that you ask for extra time, but of course, there is no extra pay for this. -all QA is done by freelancers also, so you must wait around (sometimes this is a quick 5 minutes, but sometimes it will be hours) to see if there are revisions to do. Your total pay, already a joke, will be reduced to ZERO if you do not complete these revisions. -the criteria for what constitutes a revision is not consistent between QA freelancers, so you may think you have the style right but many revisions are unreasonable. Again this requires specific communications on the slack to ask for assistance with this, making you spend yet more admin hours for your tiny amount of pay. -automated system for assigning work and calculating pay consistently skips pay for some jobs, and isn't clearly displayed, requiring that you keep extremely close eye on each job, keep a record of every detail so that you can pester the slack employees to be paid for the work you do.
