Pros

Encourages it employees to challenge themselves and provides lots of opportunities for continuing your education. The people who work with me were friendly and helpful. As a technologist I received interesting work from the beginning and was allowed to use all of my practical skills and education.

Cons

This company has a large diversity of engineering fields for which it supplies consulting services. While this meant great technical advice was available in house it takes a while to build relationships with some of the other experts.

Pros

- Somewhat flexible work hours Honestly that is about the only positive that I can come up with.

Cons

Where do I even begin? - low pay (management is very resistant to increasing pay, no matter if your role changes or your level of responsibility increases) - bullying behaviour is rampant and is tolerated (sometimes even rewarded) by management - very poor benefits (only the basics are covered, otherwise you are expected to cover the large majority of medical expenses - You are forced to use your vacation days or take time off without pay during the Christmas holidays - Employment contacts indicate that you will be compensated for overtime but if you actually attempt to claim overtime pay or bank your hours you will be threatened with being laid off - Safety is largely ignored. Its touched on in meetings etc but that's about as far as it goes. - There is no training whatsoever. You are expected to figure things out for yourself. This is great if you are very experienced but not so great if you are a junior employee. - Managers will not back you up if things go south. Instead you will be shamed (usually in meetings). This is especially frustrating since there is no training (see point above). - Turnover is very high so people remaining are usually overworked - Office atmosphere is toxic. Moral is non-existent except among new employees. - No annual reviews (yet somehow your pay is apparently based on the results of these) or career development discussions - People are routinely laid off with no warning whatsoever. - Access to information that should be readily available to all staff is for some reason restricted. In many cases the office administrative assistant appeared to have access to more information than the engineers and technologists. - Management generally acts as though Levelton is the only place in the world that people would ever want to work. This seems to drive their poor treatment of employees. I could go on and on and on. I would never recommend that anyone work for this company in Alberta.
