Pros

-Internal policies are friendly to people with special circumstances, i.e., if you are a caregiver, parent, have health troubles -Good leave allowances and policies

Cons

-Huge internal bullying problem not addressed on a scale that makes any difference - lateral and horizontal violence inclusive -Like a cult: easy to join and believe all the nice "hooks", i.e., their mantra that they are focused on "kindness" and DEI; once you are in it is obviously untrue; and good luck if you ever want to get out -Many staff will not respond to emails and attempts at communication if you are not in the same office or not “important” enough to them, including HR -Exceedingly poor onboarding and training. New staff continuously struggle to learn complicated and ineffective systems with little help or sympathy -“Favourites” get away with incompetence and laziness -Cannot trust employees who are meant to be your advocates to support you. Very selfish, even vicious culture. -If you are a single person seemingly "without" any responsibilities outside of work, for example a family etc., the expectations of you will be wildly different to your colleagues with seemingly "more" responsibilities outside of work -Blatant age discrimination against younger employees -Little to no oversight of non-UK offices; internal policies and culture often ignored yet the "face" shown to UK is that everything is as it should be I had a mental breakdown while working here because of incessant bullying and gaslighting by senior individuals. My intense fear of a particular bully in my office became overwhelming to the point that I could not think straight nor rationally, felt I could not trust anyone I worked with, was constantly in a state of panic, had difficulty sleeping, and was brought to tears whenever I thought of work for months (every morning when my alarm went off I was thrown into a panic). I have changed careers entirely because of my truly unbelievable experience here. I’ve been working since I was 13 years old and never had an experience like this. Finally I can say I wake up every morning intensely relieved and content to know that I never have to work with these people ever again while they must face themselves every day.

Pros

I worked at Lewis Silkin for several years and left with a genuine appreciation for the firm’s people-first culture and professional standards. Colleagues were collaborative and approachable, creating a supportive environment where teamwork and knowledge sharing were encouraged. The firm invested in training and practical tools, which made it easier to deliver high-quality client work and develop new skills. Leadership was visible and pragmatic, setting clear priorities and supporting career development through constructive feedback and mobility opportunities. Work-life balance compared favourably with other firms in the sector; flexible working and understanding managers helped manage peak periods without sustained burnout. Operational processes were well established, enabling efficient event delivery and strong cross-team collaboration with BD, marketing and operations.

Cons

The sandwiches in the cafe were pretty soggy
