Pros

big company with lots of job openings and really swell benefits packages.

Cons

Idiot management. Jumps on every new management theory bandwagon that comes down the pike, usually resulting in a re-org and layoffs. If any consultant book is on the NYT bestseller list, you can bet that within four months Lexis will be adopting it, hiring massively overpayed consultants to instill it, issuing wallet cards and doing workshops for mission statements, then doing the re-org and screwing everyone. Typically re-org or re-align business groups every six to ten months. Constantly making all middle-management re-apply for their own jobs: 1) pisses everyone off 2) re-sets salary scale. Incredibly short-sighted upper management; gross incompetence. Very nepotistic and favoritist. HR refuses to investigate incompetence, bad faith or workplace bullying. In comprehensible refusal to provide staff with training or resources. Incredibly outmoded proprietary software, or ripoff out-of-box stuff with high-prioced nonfucntional tweaks. IT is out of the 1980s...no staff, no support, constant irritant. Online services primitive as hell. Most astounding thing about this company is HOW GOOD THEIR STAFF IS, CONSISTENTLY and how awful the management, the culture, the support of staff, and how inferior the products. If management reformed, gioven the quality of the genertal staff, this company would go like gangbusters.

Reviews like this reflect what long-term careers here often look like in practice. LexisNexis operates at the intersection of trusted content, human expertise, and AI-powered workflows that support professionals across legal, corporate, and government sectors. The scale and responsibility of that work are part of what shape the experience, along with the benefits and flexibility you mentioned. In an established organization, there is naturally a level of structure that supports consistency and reliability. Alongside that, teams are continually refining how they work, finding more efficient paths, and building new capabilities as the business evolves. Much of that progress happens through day-to-day work, where individuals take on new challenges, collaborate across teams, and help move ideas into action. That balance between stability and ongoing improvement is what allows the business to keep moving forward while maintaining the trust customers expect. Thanks for your continued contribution and for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

Great people, solid products and market fit. Decent benefits and good vacation policy. Flexible work environment. Niche market and one of two main players in the industry. Overall, the people here are bought into the company’s mission and genuinely want to please our customers.

Cons

Can be extremely stressful to keep up with ambitious sales goals that typically go up each year regardless of whether they are met in prior years. Territories and goals are not always aligned giving some reps a much better chance of success than others. To be fair, it’s impossible to get this perfect, but the lack of effort to even attempt to solve this problem makes this a con.
