Pros

Moderate stability, decent benefits, 401k, attempts at morale boosting, free bad coffee, free tea, vending machine accessibility, smoking bus shelter, parking, personal cubicle, a paycheck, you can trade your off time with others if you feel sympathy for their lack of time, if you're production- you may use headphones at your desk.

Cons

Raises are a joke (25 cents annually is considered good for production), bonuses are low, management is by the book and is constantly breathing down your neck. If you're successful, they'll raise the production rates until unmanageable), listed as one of the best places to work out of 11 other places in the area; proud of this title (getting the picture?) favoritism is a plague, employs management from outside company, work you to death if possible on most levels, cynicism/pessimism is bread and butter. Scenarios: Supervisors do not lead by example, they often take several hours to finish conversations in front of you. If it is a bad day for them, they may yell at you for speaking at your desk in front of others. High powered, raucous laughter may ensue later in the day when they finally get to blow off some steam with their selected friends from within production (for an extended period of time). 2 hour lunches are typical of all supervisors. You get thirty minutes. Don't favor falling asleep at your desk? Don't visit the in-house cafeteria for refreshment in five minutes time. You may earn yourself a warning if your supervisor doesn't like you. Too hot? Dress code for men requires pants or capris if you're into that. Dress code for women isn't much better. AC doesn't work in most areas. If you get a written warning, you can't aspire for promotion for six months. Cafeteria food is of VERY poor quality. The staff dropped an egg on the floor and attempted to serve it to me. Other times I've found plastic wrappers cooked conveniently into my food. Three day old pizza, old lunch meat, elder salads are typical. They used to have knock off Duncan Donuts coffee, marked up in price. Don't use the creamer. Get yelled at for talking during work (for five minutes), watch and hear the executive staff clap and cheer loudly down the lengthy hallways to give away phillies tickets. Hopefully you love sports. They sure think you do. "Anonymous" employee surveys are handed out. -Everyone is overworked save for executive staff, who seem relatively at ease when you see them in the halls.-

Pros

Work Day Flexibility Infrequent office visits - 4x a month fairly decent pay

Cons

- Promotions very difficult - attractive positions already earmarked for internal candidates prior to posting the req - high probability of pigeonholing - org is extremely reactive and tends to ignore suggestions until something becomes a problem - highly unorganized - very difficult to get answers or solve problems due to ambiguity in ownership of responsibilities/roles - unfair distribution of support across BU's - lack of organization tends to cause unnecessary stress - you need to have strong boundaries otherwise work/life balance can become non-existent
