Pros

I worked at the Early Learning Center at Liberty Christian Academy. I loved working with the students and families. The LCA ELC has great resources for students, especially compared to smaller preschools.

Cons

High responsibility with very low pay. I made a few cents above minimum wage. I understand that preschool teachers aren't usually paid as much as elementary or secondary teachers, but I made less than a newly hired employee at wal-mart. They expect so much for such little pay. Everything is very tightly controlled. Administration for the preschool wants every single teacher to be exactly the same. If you don't fit the mold, you certainly risk getting fired. There is no grace. The employee retention is terrible. Irresponsible people are hired as afternoon teachers for the ELC. Often, these teachers are on their phones or socializing with other teachers. It is a detriment to student safety. The school is not supportive of teachers. It's deplorable that a Christian institution is not willing to pay teachers a living wage. It speaks to how they value people- not worthy of having basic needs met.

Pros

Great coworkers, great facility, great students. Very supportive team environment. Enjoyed my time there and would have continued. Wonderful spiritual atmosphere. I loved it there!

Cons

I made some mistakes while there - all of us do. Got put on an improvement plan late in my seventh year. I objected that the plan when first shared with me sounded like the first step to no contract next year, and was told that was not the case. It was. Even though my yearly reviews before that had always been excellent, and I did all they asked of me in the several months I was on the improvement plan, no contract was offered this year. It felt like the whole improvement plan was a sham. No records were kept of the meetings and signed off on by me to substantiate my compliance or noncompliance. There should have been such records.
