Pros

Life Changing Labs is a sanctuary for student entrepreneurs. As the Managing Director, I’ve witnessed this incubator evolve from mere bricks and mortar to a vibrant ecosystem of dreams coming to reality. LCL 8-week summer program is more than a sprint; it’s a relay. Startups sprint, stumble, and soar. But when the sun sets on Demo Day, they’re not alone. LCL becomes their guiding community. LCL defies campus borders. From Cornell Slope to Harvard Yard to MIT Dome to Silicon Valley, LCL stitches together a quilt of determination and support. Cross-university connections is LCL's currency. Accessibility is the LCL's secret sauce. LCL’s 100% remote programming transcends geography. Zoom squares become incubators, laptops—launchpads. LCL takes no equity, and it helps to eliminate conflict of interestes that equity-based accelerators might struggle with. No SAFEs, LCL’s pockets remain empty. Generous sponsors fuel the mission. They see what we see: potential, uncut diamonds, and galaxies waiting to birth. Broad network: LCL alumni—now CEOs, activists, and visionaries—carry its legacy. They raise funds, create impact, and redefine success.

Cons

Managing Directors wear many hats: conductor, confidant, and compass. Each day, they compose a symphony of belief, echoing across campuses and futures unknown. Managing diverse personalities and expectations across staff and speakers can be challenging. Miscommunication or conflicting priorities may arise. Without equity, sustaining LCL’s operations relies heavily on external sponsors. Financial stability is a perpetual concern. Virtual fatigue and lack of face-to-face interactions may hinder deep connections. Building trust across screens requires finesse. I tried to connect with the companies and people in person every chance I got.
