Pros

LifeBound is building student empowerment, motivation, and initiative with the strategies it uses directly with students as well as indirectly through training the instructors, counselors, and advisors who work with students. Thriving in the modern workplace demands that students think on their feet, be flexible, avoid assumptions, be constantly learning, and problem solve with an open, critical thinking mind. This mission is motivating to me and to others who work for and with LifeBound. We know we are making a difference on the ground where it counts, and instead of handing out the fish, we are teaching people to fish and to build a future for themselves.

Cons

LifeBound is a small company with tasks and needs that change day to day, based on what coaching contracts are being sought or fulfilled, what writing or sales may be needed with the companion books and/or curriculum materials the company publishes, and what is happening in the world of education and conferences. The environment is a great fit for workers who can shift priorities easily, be open to learning and doing new things, and thrive in change. It is not such a great fit for workers who crave a stable schedule and predictable tasks day in and day out, and for those who prefer to follow orders rather than take initiative and get creative. Frankly, those employees who can roll with the changes will benefit from working here because they will build the kind of flexibility and teamwork skill that is ever more in demand in today's companies of all sizes.

Pros

-Hard work is recognized and rewarded -The entire staff is supportive and friendly. The company stresses its sense of community, and it felt like I was very much a member of a cohesive team -As an intern I was given enough autonomy to get experience with self directed work. I worked directly with the founder quite a bit and she paid attention to my personal abilities to properly gear how much to prescribe versus let me do on my own. -Gave me a better picture of the inner workings of a small business. I've had other internships where it felt like I was just doing tasks for a supervisor at a company I didn't really know. Lifebound feels much more transparent. I learned more about other positions/jobs within the company. This is partially because of how much everyone works together at all levels, and also because its an honest and welcoming company culture -Beautiful and charming office space -Enthusiastic and mission driven leader

Cons

-Lots of working together can be a con for some people. Collaboration is a big deal and if you prefer to do everything on your own then it might not be a great place for you -It's a small company. It's not as easy to climb an entire career latter at one place unless you're at a larger organization
