Pros
The company presented itself as having a people-centered culture, which I initially appreciated. Unfortunately, this experience made me question the authenticity of that image.
Cons
I was invited to a 45-minute phone interview and an on-site interview for an HR Generalist position at Lingo Galaxy. I was offered the role on the spot and told I was the best candidate by far. Since I was already employed, I explained that I would only resign from my current job once a formal contract was signed. The CEO reassured me verbally that I had their word. The next day, I received a contract with concerning clauses: A two-month notice period, with a penalty of €500 for failing to meet it (unusual for an entry-level role). A clause that would make me personally liable for GDPR-related fines, despite the fact that the role required no prior GDPR experience. I voiced my concerns professionally, and the company agreed to remove both clauses. We then signed the contract, and I submitted the requested documents for onboarding. Trusting this agreement, I proceeded to resign from my previous job. To my surprise , the very next morning I received an SMS withdrawing the offer—after the contract had been signed. No clear explanation was given, and my follow-up message expressing confusion received a vague response without accountability. This was an extremely disappointing and disruptive experience. Signing an employment contract only to have the offer withdrawn via SMS, especially after resigning from a stable job, shows a lack of professionalism and integrity. I strongly encourage future candidates to exercise caution and request everything in writing. Sadly, verbal assurances and even a signed contract did not protect me from being left without employment.
