Pros
The company culture was nice when I started, with managers being understanding and flexible if employees had to duck away for personal emergencies. There were a lot of passionate people working on the mission. The products are innovative and unique in the market. There was some opportunity for promotion and advancement.
Cons
Upper management were inexperienced and not forthcoming with long term business goals. Deadlines were sometimes changed at a whim without communicating that with the relevant teams. There seemed to be an inability for management to accept when they made a mistake and they'd be happier letting people go that tried to address this. Throughout my tenure I saw at least one round of redundancies a year, usually with no warning to employees or even their managers. I saw teams be reduced by 50-75% or cut completely, but management would refuse to revise deadlines for those now overworked teams. To add insult to injury I would see thousands of dollars of resources be wasted or under-utilised by the business while being told teams needed to tighten their belts and lay staff off. Felt like a slap in the face to people losing their jobs seeing money still being wasted. I've seen the workplace culture morph into something a lot more toxic since I started and I'm not sure if it would even be possible to reverse this. I'm not sure if the long term business outlook looks good at this point.
