Pros
Three things. The commute. The short trip to work. The short trip home. Management knows this and uses that lever like a club. This us the downside to living in a small remote community with no competing hospitals.
Cons
Arrogance of management. The greatly diminished transparency and consistency and fair dealing that once prevailed in HR and director level interaction with staff since moving into the new hospital AND the creation of the COO position. Small or non-existent raises for staff at a time directors are getting massive raises. ( rumor is 35 percent). Many staff who express concerns about the loss of the family environment to a cutthroat workplace where rewards and punishments are vindictive and capricious , directors are using variable standards in deciding employees usefulness productivity and fate. Back room secret deals that have destroyed all trust and a great deal of morale. For years I loved that place now I keep my head down and try to put in my time
