Good pay and nice staff, but long hours - Bus Driver Lothian Buses Employee Review

Good money , good buses, pays on time

Shift work, public, always a sense someone is constantly watching your back

Higher wages than most other similar employers nearby -- if you can really get it. It seems that at least the management are OK to ethnic minorities as I can see different ethnic minorities working there, while I am not sure about the driving trainers.

Waste of time, the HR want as many drivers as possible while the trainers want almost the opposite, the HR will tell you their high passing rate of driving test, but never tell you about the kick out rate -- It seems that there is quota on passing rate for the trainers, and therefore (?) if the trainer know that you are not a experienced heavy vehicle driver, they will not teach you but try their best to kick you out, in order to keep their "high passing rate" , and when a trainee failed their first chance of driving test, their face turn very ugly. The trainers, if they want to kick you out, will try their best to jot down the "error" you made and tell you that you are driving badly and not suitable for this job, while the "error" they told is, in fact you can easily found from their own drivers had daily driving their own buses. When the little time I was there, I heard that a training bus got damaged badly, I am not suprised as it seems that the trainers may intentionally push the trainees drive faster such that they can be easily driving "unsafely". Therefore, do not waste your time there, especially if you have no experience on heavy vehicles, while if you are currenly experienced heavy vehicle driver, then why risking for losting your current job for a uncertain chance, of an unstable working hour job?
