Skill less management who operate by bullying. Department managers who know nothing about their section. Lowe's moves them from place to place. Resentment of anyone who is knowledgeable in the field. One
full time garden person didn't even know what pansies are. Most know nothing about gardening. Telling you not to explain to customers but - "Just point to the section and let them take care of themselves." And when they hear customers say "I've come back just to talk to you." They really steam.
Lowe's doesn't care. They work on volume not on professionalism, and - there are dozens out there who need a job for $11 an hour.
Advice to Management
Have your management learn people skills. They are on the brutish side who know nothing about working professionally and productively.
But what does Lowe's care? They make money by volume and customer need no matter who runs the show.
Now, when I posted this, Lowe's asked for me to call directly. When I called, the person was in India. Clearly, a front wall barrier. This diversion underscores what I mentioned about Lowe's. They are totally corporate. Management is unskilled, department heads are clueless. Floor people know nothing about their materials. BUT - Lowe's doesn't care. They make money regardless. The products sell themselves. The quintessential functional machine with neither interest nor connection to the public.
