Pros

I worked at Lucid for over 8 years, and most of my time there was incredible. I made great friends through my coworkers, and leadership consistently demonstrated that they cared about my development. In my time at Lucid, I switched departments, and eventually transitioned from individual contributor to manager. In each role I felt supported and had the resources I needed to succeed. What led me to fall in love with Lucid so many years ago was the community atmosphere and unique benefits. Lucid was a fun place to be, and exemplified the work hard/play hard mentality that resonated with me. We would do annual company retreats which provided some of my best memories of my adult life. One unparalleled benefit was a 2-month paid sabbatical that gave me the time I needed to complete a lifelong dream. I was so incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work at Lucid.

Cons

While Lucid is still a great place, it bears little resemblance to the company I fell in love with years ago. It's been over 5 years since the last company retreat. The 2-month sabbatical option no longer exists, as it was reduced last year. Hybrid work has been an awkward fit for a company where so much of the unique value was in the in-person experience. While there are benefits to remote and hybrid work, Lucid has not been able to translate the magic of the pre-COVID in-office atmosphere to the current landscape. If you're looking for a great place to work, Lucid is still an excellent option. If you're looking for the special experience that Lucid offered in the 2016-2019 era, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Pros

- Very strong mentorship program - Very nice people - Some VERY good engineers, PMs, and designers

Cons

- Pay isn't competitive outside of Utah (but hey, at least we're hiring) - Like most other companies at our size, your success and satisfaction largely depend on the team you're on - Sales and product/eng could probably be better aligned to inform product decisions - Like most other SAAS companies, we're investing A LOT into AI. This could bite us in the future (I personally think we're in a bubble, and the consequences of over-investing will be very painful once it bursts)
