Pros

From the moment I stepped off the elevator, I was treated as if I had been a part of the company for years. Every employee that I came in contact with, no matter their department or assigned team, welcomed me with open arms and a promise of assistance whenever I should require it. My opinions mattered. My knowledge and expertise was valued and put to use. My work was appreciated and aknowledged. My supervisors and direct management supported me both professionally and personally. It was the first job that I worked where my supervisors found me additional projects that specifically related to my expertise so that I was not bored with the routine tasks of an admin assistant. (I have a doctoral degree) When my contract was approaching the end, my supervisors developed reasons to keep me on longer. Inevitably they ran out of projects and I had to leave, but not before every person on my team offered to serve as a point of reference for me in the future.

Cons

The office is located in Downtown Norfolk so the commuter traffic and parking situation is less than desireable. The departments of MLL are spread out over the 13th, 19th, 20th and 21st floors of a single building with the mailroom and IT being on the 13th and the guest check-in on the 20th. Consequently it is necessary to be in an elevator frequently throughout the day and if you do not have a passkey, you have to start your visit on the 20th floor and be escorted from department to department.

Pros

I used to love working here. I love the people I work with. The level of clients we get to work with is great. National, International brands.

Cons

Frequent reorganizations, salaries are not even keeping up with inflation (which is not a "merit" increase, additional responsibilities for no additional compensation, frequent layoffs and offshoring. When layoffs occur, there are always several positions / responsibilities that are not backfilled and no longer owned by anyone. Changing work from home / hybrid / full time back in office policies continue to change. Employees no longer trust the leadership. There is no stability. There is no incentive to do great work. It has not been valued.
