Pros
MIT Sloan functions more like a large start-up, similar to those found throughout the Kendall Square area. It functions very differently from the rest of MIT, sharing the same great benefits of the rest of the institute, but typically higher pay, more flexible work hours (and built-in remote days, even prior to the start of the pandemic), and a really dynamic work environment, with benefits like free lunch, a great communal lounge, and many places to sit and get work done throughout the building. Really safe office environment in E62 during the pandemic, with weekly or more frequent COVID testing for all staff, and key-access only buildings.
Cons
Suffers from many of the issues as other institutions of higher ed--pay lower than market value, inconsistent workload, higher support staff turnover (especially right now, after a year in the pandemic), and lack of growth opportunities for support staff. It really depends on where you work in the institution.
