Cons
I've been at MITRE quite a while and have always been proud of the work that I've done and the impact I've had. I've always realized that MITRE is an odd place compared to many other employers, being a not-for-profit and operating FFRDCs and all. But I've always felt valued by the company and very engaged with my work. The past several years has seen a lot of turnover and turmoil. Senior management makes rash decisions and then gets defensive when questioned. Actions within the past six months have been erratic, with drastic changes handed down with very little notice given to managers beforehand. It's a bad sign that I'm a manager and my boss' boss has to ask the CEO a question in the chat of the all-employee meeting this week. It's obvious senior management do not listen to anyone except their inner circle. The recent cut of one week of paid time off has been the last straw and has left me demoralized. For the first time in a long time, I do not feel valued.
