Pros

MMD is willing to train and teach you everything they know about the industry. Really nurtures people to make sure they are confident in their recruiting abilities and willing to do whatever it takes, so you are successful. Every person in the office has a determination to help make other succeed and we have all become extremely close! I would consider them not only my co-workers, but also my friends. We lift each other up and encourage one another to push through the difficult times! In addition to amazing co-workers, my manager, DeLanee, is outstanding. She is not only an amazing recruiter and relationship builder, but she is the sole reason I have had success. Whenever I need assistance, DeLanee is there to help and offer suggestions. MMD is lucky to have her. Maria Dubov is the most hard-working and determined CEO. She has the innate ability to connect with everyone and she wants to make sure everyone is happy. With her expertise and DeLanee's skillset, MMD is a great place to work. Although I was not on Alana's team, I worked closely with her as well. She was my first contact before joining MMD and made an amazing impression. She has a back for chatting with people and is always willing to offer suggestions!

Cons

Sometimes long hours, but that is expected with how the industry is these days!

Pros

Small team environment with supportive peers. Good location.

Cons

Leadership positions the agency as different, promoting role ownership, strong client relationships, and a steady stream of closable roles. In my experience, the day-to-day reality didn’t fully reflect that message. It's important to note a few things. This is a small organization. Leadership has only worked at this agency, which limits outside perspective. In my opinion, that influenced the company culture, how clients were handled, how goals were set, and how feedback was delivered. Additionally, at least five recruiters have departed over an eight-month span. The ownership model for recruiters didn’t play out as promoted. Role ownership often shifted from week to week. Recruiters had limited opportunity to engage directly with clients, as sales (leadership) maintained heavy oversight. Participation in intake calls was limited despite what I was told. When recruiters were invited, the calls were often for VMS roles shared across multiple agencies, leaving little room for meaningful client partnership. The agency does have long-standing client relationships, but all roles were worked on a contingent basis. I saw many that had been sitting open for several months, as well as backfills for contractor turnover. Roles were often unfillable due to compensation mismatches, yet these roles were still prioritized by leadership. Even when there was little traction despite consistent recruiter effort, there was pressure to perform. Time could have been better spent consulting with clients on flexibility/solutions, or moving on to focus on business development to obtain more fillable roles. The hybrid policy was not what I expected. I was told 2 days onsite, but learned from the team in week one that remote days depended on hitting a specific weekly goal. When that goal wasn’t met (and it was regularly missed by half the team), the expectation shifted to 3+ days in office. This wasn’t mentioned in interviews, and I saw new hires learn about it in real time too. If you pay attention, you’ll notice the technical recruiter role is always posted. From my perspective, that reflects turnover more than growth.

Thanks for being open about your time with us. We know jumping into agency recruiting early in your career can feel like a trial by fire, and we genuinely value the feedback as we work on making our onboarding smoother. Just to clear the air on a few things: MMD has actually been around for nearly 20 years. We’ve stayed small on purpose because it helps us keep our core team stable and our client relationships deep. Regarding the autonomy piece we usually wait to hand over the keys to client accounts until a recruiter feels totally solid on our process. It’s about setting you up to win, not holding you back. We also take fillability seriously; we don't pursue VMS roles unless we have a relationship with the manager. At the end of the day, agency life isn't for everyone, and that’s okay! We truly wish you nothing but the best in your next chapter.
