You learn a lot about different artwork and artists. It really opens your eyes to how museums function.

The reason I stuck around for as long as I did was because I had some hope that I would have opportunity for (either big, or little) advancement. I had noticed my coworker that had been working there for less time than I was was given duties that were outside of gallery attendant duties - things that I had never been given before. It may not seem like a big deal, but I did sense a lot of favoritism because of this. This was one of a few reasons I left the museum. The pay is also very low, and you basically do the same thing every day. Aside from being around art, the job is far from exciting. All in all, if you need a job to just pass time during your day, make enough money to pay for your Starbucks, and don’t mind not doing literally anything all day, this may be a job for you. But don’t expect to be offered more.
