Pros

A lot of the lower level staff are there for the right reasons - they care and want to do a good job. I made some good friends here. There is talent among the workforce, but unfortunately it is stifled by beurocracy and poor senior leadership.

Cons

Senior leadership are clueless - poor communication. Some of them I don't even know what they did. And that all comes from the top - I barely saw Michelle in the two years I worked there. A lot of who gets the top jobs seems to be about who you know. And there is a poor organisational structure, with far too many temporary positions. The lack of digital expertise is staggering - it took years to get a very simple and average website up and running. God knows how much money was wasted. Lastly, obviously the location is terrible. Everyone knows it, everyone hates it and yet nothing gets done. That's a large reason why staff turnover is so high, and it's hard to attract good young talent. No one wants to be in Cricklewood!

Pros

Amazing volunteers who although they're not appreciated still carry on supporting others

Cons

Thankfully I've left just ahead of a crazy new pay grade system which will devalue anyone working with volunteers or the community as you're considered a general charity worker not a specialist or professional. HR are toxic and have been allowed to drive the organisation into the ground since the last CEO Michele Mitchell left. The current CEO has no authority in his own organisation and can't stop the damage being done. If you're going for a job in any of these areas - even management- ask about where your job will fit in the new pay grade system as your salary could actually decrease over time! You can expect to see lots of colleagues leave, and who will pick up their workload for free? You will. This shows you where the leadership priorities are. In my opinion they care more about paying millions to consultants, directors and CEO than investing in resources for teams who actually make a difference and matter to the community. If you work in volunteering or anything to do with community then AVOID!!! work somewhere you and your work will actually be valued and you'll be able to support service users.
