Pros

I've worked at the company for over 4 years and unfortunately the reasons that attracted me to MWR in the first place (celebration of individualism, passion, focus on delivering quality) seem to have been eroded and bad habits have taken hold. There are still a number of really clever and focused Consultants and typically a good support network between us, regardless of level. Certain Managers still embody the 'old' values and are genuinely good guys, however unfortunately this is an exception, rather than the majority.

Cons

Unfortunately MWR does not seem to have been able to transition from 'Cool and chilled' small Company, where everyone is it in together and are genuinely invested in their employees, to a mid-sized company where the individual is valued. Typically nowadays, Consultants seem to be viewed as just money making monkeys, where your 'research time' is cancelled time and again so another job can be fitted into the schedule and you can make more money for the company - and if you have the audacity to mention this, you're told you're not a team player and get a black mark against your name. Work / life balance is certainly not as positive as it once was, and it really doesn't seem to matter if you're 95-100% on Client site, hundreds of miles away from your home, as long as you're making money for the company, why would anyone care? You mention anything - Whoops, another black mark.... Other reviews have mentioned favouritism and this certainly seems to be the case, with people being promoted for reasons other than being highly skilled individuals. There seems to be an unspoken tenant that you don't bother getting to know new employees any more due to the 50% chance they will fail their probation and quietly pushed out of the company within their probationary period. Only after employees have remained at the company for 3+ months do people seem to make an effort to integrate them into the teams. Unfortunately, after 4+ years at this company, this review is being written just after I've updated my CV - It used to be a fantastic company with a really great, fun atmosphere where you felt invested in, appreciated and felt you were genuinely working towards something great. Unless you want to join a company which doesn't seem to listen to its employees any more, sends out mixed messages and has an undertone of 'We don't care what quality work is delivered as long as we get the cash', I'd sadly steer clear.

Pros

I can’t write enough good things about MWR. First off, I can only speak for the New York office as I didn’t get to communicate very much to the other offices. The staff at MWR is full of top talent and smart people. I’ve never felt so challenged and motivated to improve myself. Better yet, the full time staff was always eager to help you learn and extremely welcoming. The best part of MWR, besides the awesome office environment, if definitely the people it attracts and I am glad to have gotten the opportunity to meet everyone.

Cons

Not just a “none” for the cons, MWR has what an intern experience should be, down. They are very hands off with your experience and it is up to YOU to make sure you make the most of it. That was definitely something I got to learn during in internship. For those who can’t be motivated to figure out what to do, I don’t believe MWR would br a good match. However, that being said, everyone is very helpful and eager to help if you have any problems so if you are the proactive type, MWR will be your learning playground!
