Pros

I learned valuable lessons on how to deal with a highly toxic leader.

Cons

Most of the reviews covered essentials. If you insist on working here after taking this all in, realize when she's disparaging your coworkers one on one with you, that she's also doing this to you when you're not in the room. She believes this will create some sort of intimacy or something? Don't think for one second you're spared. Think very critically about her repeated experienced with "bad hires" and be very skeptical about any supposed turn around she's making. She cycles through fresh blood quickly for a reason. If you're in a situation dire enough where you need a paycheck and have a steely resistance to borderline personalities, you could make this work for you, but I wouldn't stay longer than a year. That's if she doesn't fire you first. Beyond the employee culture--it's unethical to sell the value of a work place culture when you cannot maintain any semblance of one yourself. If I were a potential client reading this reviews I'd run far away and look into hiring a real agency or a consultant who had actual experience with successfully leading teams.

Pros

Allison Wasz is one of the best leaders I've ever had, and she manages of team of capable people who go to bat for their clients and coworkers every single day. Allison makes sure to equip her employees with the best possible tools and encourages them to try new things and think outside the box. She is hugely motivated to make Macleod the best place it can be, and its inspiring to be around her.

Cons

It's a small company, so things change quickly and as an employee, you need to be adept and flexible. The company is still growing, so employees are expected to wear many hats.

Pros

Wonderful people to work with. They were creative and hard working. The clients were a joy to work with and the projects were challenging.

Cons

The owner is not a good manager or leader. She hired 4 employees and a couple months later terminated all of them. After that the rest of her employees quit. The owner talks about the importance of culture in an agency, yet her actions tell a very different story. She might hire you on a Monday, love you on a Tuesday, and terminate you by Friday. The owner changes directions constantly and her decision making is not based on facts, but rather emotion and Astrology.

Your advice is spot-on. I thought that building a culture meant the trappings of culture -- the physical stuff. By having a stocked kitchen and regular happy hours that I would "build" a culture on the back of that. We still have snacks in the Macleod fridge, but I’ve learned that creating a culture takes more than that! We are working hard here at Macleod to build a culture together. There are no short cuts. Thanks for your feedback, and I wish you the best in your future!
