Pros
Friendly people and a great work life balance.
Cons
As an AM your base pay is $50k with the chance to bring that to $60k if you reach your benchmarks. (Building client relationships, client retention, quotas, etc.)
What they don’t tell you is you’ll spend most of your time making cold calls. Keep in mind, they do tell you this will be part of the job, however, that’s essentially all the job is for your first 3-6 months.
The agency is old school and so is their approach to new biz which is a problem. Just because something sorta works now and used to work 30+ years ago doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be changes or innovative approaches to how the agency generates business.
They might say the average salary is between $70-$80k for first year but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s only been reached by a select few AMs that have rolled through the door.
The account team seems to experience a high rate of attrition. Most likely due to the absence of qualified leads and a very “hands off” approach from leadership.
If you’re coming from another agency or have legit marketing experience, this position will not fulfill you.
It’s a sales role PERIOD.
