Pros

The work means something and we are doing real good for real people. There is a generous holiday benefit- 30 days plus bank holiday. Majority of time is spent working remotely with limited office travel required which is fairly standard for a consultancy. Currently lots of talented and passionate people. Workplace culture between the people on the ground is very kind - the nicest culture I have worked within by a mile.

Cons

There have been many many issues over the past year which have resulted in a pretty uncomfortable working environment. Mostly driven from exec and leadership. Redundancies, relentless policy and benefit changes and a huge shift in the companies culture. They haven't been handled well at all and the consequences of that are being felt. It feels like this is the turning point for either Made Tech continuing to succeed or crash and burning.

Thanks so much for leaving us some feedback. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to share some pros as well as cons. Change is hard, and particularly in organisations that have seen the level of growth that we have in the past couple of years. It has been a challenging time, but what I see at Made Tech is the majority getting on with doing vital, transformative work, and supporting one another in doing so. Culture does change with growth - but different doesn’t have to mean worse. I totally agree that we can all work towards building a positive culture if we choose to. It’s not something that passively happens around us. I totally accept leaders at Made Tech can do a better job of communicating - we’re taking this on board and working towards doing better. Thanks again. Rory

Pros

Mission with Substance: Unlike many consultancies where social value is a footnote, Made Tech’s commitment to the public sector is the core driver. Leading the Data and AI practice here means solving problems that actually affect citizens' lives - from healthcare efficiency to smarter government services. Engineering Excellence: There is a deep-seated respect for modern engineering principles (TDD, pair programming, and robust CI/CD). This makes me feel proud of the work our teams deliver because the underlying data foundations are built with quality in mind, not just speed. Radical Transparency: The Open by Default culture isn't just a slogan. From salary bands to the company handbook and even board-level decisions, the level of transparency is refreshing and builds a high-trust environment for leaders. Autonomy to Build: As a Practice Head, you aren't fighting red tape. There is genuine appetite for innovation in LLMs and data engineering, and the leadership team provides the runway to shape the roadmap authentically.

Cons

Consulting Pace: Like any high-growth consultancy, the pace can be intense. Navigating public sector procurement cycles alongside rapid-fire delivery requires a high level of resilience and stakeholder management. Maturing Processes: As the company scales, some of the internal startup-style processes are still catching up to the size of the organisation. It’s a work in progress, but it requires patience.
