Pros

In my opinion, Maestro is a great place for employees to explore new ideas and experiment with innovative learning technology and media. Employees receive new technology for work purposes and receive lavish gifts for holidays and birthdays. The brick-and-mortar office is nicely furnished and features luxury amenities. Opportunities to work with impressive, high-budget clients. A full suite of digital project management and communication tools used at Maestro makes collaborative completion of projects simple. Some employees are genuinely engaged in the social life and culture of the company. Lots of support for parents of young children, including a generous parental leave policy. Very generous PTO and an excellent insurance package.

Cons

It often felt to me like communication between company management and employees was inconsistent and unclear. The company structure shifts what feels like every few months, sometimes with no notice or clear reason. Depending on the team, a healthy work/life balance might be difficult to manage, especially for younger employees or those without children (who seem to be expected to have less boundaries around personal time). Few to no opportunities for professional development seem to be available for entry level and middle management. The company is demographically homogenous, and management is only beginning to understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a member of the LGBTQ community, I felt accepted by some coworkers, tolerated by most, and avoided by others; I was expected to self-advocate and educate fellow employees about what constitutes offensive language and behavior with very little effective support. As of the end of 2020, there were no formal performance review processes and no regular cost-of-living compensation adjustments, much less raises. While many of these issues have been brought up with management over the past few years and there seemed to be regular reassurance that they would change in the future, many pushes for change seem to get lost in a maze of red tape.
